Workshops
The Key Approach In Recognizing and Managing Movement Dysfunction Associated with Spine, Pelvis and Hip Pain: Module I – Foundations of control
10-12 September 2010 (opening session Friday evening and two full days at weekend)
These unique workshops offer a different perspective for effectively managing spinal and lower quadrant pain disorders.
Clinically relevant, stimulating and a very practical learning opportunity, they integrate relevant research with the insights of extensive clinical practice and will address:
- Analysis of healthy lumbopelvic function – what do we know?
- The nature of compromised patterns of motor control
- Identifying and mapping the more common clinical patterns of posturo-movement dysfunction – clinical sub-group classification
- Examining the predictable relationship between the more common movement impairments, joint and myo-fascial changes and pain disorders
- Appraisal of current concepts and rationale of commonly prescribed therapeutic exercises: – exploring beyond ‘core stability’ and ‘Pilates’- with implications for screening and injury prevention in the exercise industry in general
- Practical sessions will integrate manual therapy approaches and the assessment and remediation of changed motor control – how to better prescribe and establish fundamental patterns of physiological control as a basis for building more healthy kinematic movement patterns
