APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist
Brid is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and certified clinical pilates matwork instructor who is passionate about finding the root cause of your symptoms. She incorporates a holistic approach to treatment and rehabilitation, ensuring you achieve your health and fitness goals.
Brid joined us at Edgecliff Physiotherapy in March 2012 bringing with her 15 years of combined study and clinical experience in physiotherapy. This included completion of the Masters of Manual therapy programme at the University of Western Australia in 2010. Brid specialises in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, in particular acute and chronic neck and back pain, shoulder injuries and post operative orthopaedic rehabilitation (spinal, hips, knees, ankles, and shoulders).
She has extensive experience treating sports injuries across a diverse population of all ages and abilities. She has also previously worked with the Irish youth boxing team and several ladies Gaelic football teams.
She has a special interest in cycling injuries. Brid provides an on and off bike “cycling assessment” at the clinic which is aimed at cyclists of all levels from the weekend warrior to competition cyclists. The aim is to improve your comfort on the bike and to aid with your performance enhancement, but to also help to identify strategies of rehabilitation for those who are struggling with their performance due to injuries. She will look at your bike set-up, your riding position and your body’s flexibility and strength and make suitable recommendations based on her findings.
Since giving birth to her daughter in 2017, Brid has developed a new appreciation of the need to give appropriate and safe advice to women returning to exercise post-partum. She has completed Dr. Sarah Duvall’s “Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist “course and is excited to share her rehabilitation knowledge with you and get you safely back to your chosen sport or exercise routine post-partum.
Having spent years running around gaelic football and Oztag pitches, Brid is now more likely to be found doing yoga, pilates, swimming or running in her spare time.
Brid was appointed an Associate of the practice in June 2015.
